An engineering center in partnership with technological partners will be established within the framework of President Putin’s initiative for the development of a shipbuilding business cluster in the Far Eastern Federal District.
The center will focus on developing all stages of design for the construction of polar-class ships and offshore structures at the Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex for Rosneft and other customers.
Implementation of the project will enable the transfer of competencies from the technological partners, in particular, introduction of the cutting edge technologies for commercial ship and offshore structure design, educating and training skilled Russian professionals, adopting a cutting edge IT system, and engineering support for the marketing and procurement of the Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex.

Development of local competencies in the areas of design and engineering for the construction of polar-class ships and offshore structures
- Development of the production design and documentation for supply vessels and topside modules for offshore drilling rigs and alignment of foreign basic designs to Russian standards
- Independent development of concept and basic designs including the designs of medium-range tankers and other types of commercial ships and offshore structures following the build-up of corresponding competencies (starting from 2019)
